Ardisia is a bright plant of the Primrose family.

The shrub blooms in spring or summer and produces red fruits and berries in autumn.

How to grow ardisia

Place the seeds on the surface of the soil at a distance of 5 cm from each other and cover with a 1 cm layer of soil.

Thoroughly moisten the soil and cover the container with a lid or glass to create high humidity in it.

The optimal temperature for pecking seeds is 23 – 25 degrees Celsius.

How to care for Ardisia at home

The soil should always be slightly moist.

In the summer, when it’s hot, water the ardisia abundantly as soon as the top layer of soil dries.

On cool days, water moderately: if water stagnates in the soil, the foliage will begin to die and the bush will die.

If the leaves of ardisia become soft and drooping, water it immediately.

How to prune ardisia

Potted plants - Wait until the flowering and fruiting stages are over before changing pots.

Plants in the ground - plant directly, being careful not to damage the root system or remove soil.

Trim off remaining flowers and yellowed/dead leaves.

No other pruning at this time.

Previously, we talked about how to grow dahlias.
