In fall, mice tend to seek warm and safe places to live, and it's even better when these places have some food to steal.

Therefore, you should prepare your house for fall to make sure that your warm and nice house won't attract lots of mice.

Here are a few things you can do to prevent an infestation.

Seal Cracks and Holes

Look for any cracks or holes in your walls or floors. Mice are tiny, so seal up these openings with caulk or steel wool. It's like closing the door on them.

Tidy Up Outside

Keep the area around your house clean. Remove piles of leaves, wood, or clutter. Mice like cozy spots, so don't give them any hiding places.

Secure Food

Store food in sturdy containers. Mice love to nibble on anything they find, so keeping your snacks in sealed containers is like locking the pantry.

Close Trash Bins

Make sure your trash cans have tight-fitting lids. Mice are attracted to the smell of food, and closed bins help keep them away.

Fix Leaks

Mice need water, so fix any leaks in and around your house. It's like turning off the mouse water fountain.

Use Peppermint Oil

Mice don't like the smell of peppermint. Soak cotton balls in peppermint oil and place them where you suspect mice might come in.

It's like creating a scented barrier.

Get a Cat

If you're a pet person, consider getting a cat. Cats are natural mouse hunters. Having a feline friend is like having a built-in mouse guard.

Set Traps

Use mouse traps. These are like little detective devices that catch mice. Just remember to check them regularly.

Inspect Your Garage

Mice love cozy garages. Check for any gaps or holes and seal them. It's like securing another entry point.

Keep Doors Closed

Be mindful of leaving doors open, especially in the evenings. If you're letting fresh air in, consider using screens to keep mice out.
