The field of education is changing because of new technology, especially in the area of programming.

Learning to program can be tricky, so a group of researchers from different countries is suggesting a solution: gamification.

Let's find out more about how it works.

Gamification is a thing

Gamification means making learning a bit like a game. It makes learning fun and challenging, kind of like playing a game.

The goal is to get students more interested and help them remember things better.

One great thing about this approach is that it can be personalized.

It means each student can learn at their own pace, depending on what they know and what they need to learn.

A smart computer or a teacher helps figure out what each student needs.

If a student is learning quickly, they can move ahead. If they're having a hard time, they can take their time until they get it.

In today's world, using games in the classroom can help motivate students, especially when it comes to learning programming.

Traditional methods of teaching aren't always up-to-date, so using technology like this can help fix that.

How it was discovered

Teachers in Lithuania have already tried out this gamification method

It was part of a special project by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Sport. Students liked it, and it improved their learning.

The researchers used a special kind of web application that's good for learning.

We still can't use it everywhere

However, there are still challenges to using this method more widely in schools.

It can be expensive to change traditional lessons into gamified ones, and it can be hard to convince everyone to try it.

But, the researcher thinks it's worth it because it helps students learn better and makes learning more interesting.

So, in the future, we might see more games in classrooms to help us learn and enjoy it at the same time.
