This symptom, known as anhedonia, is present in 75% of adults and young adults with depression. Nevertheless, despite how common this symptom is, it remains one of the most difficult symptoms to treat.
What is anhedonia
Anhedonia is the loss of the ability to experience pleasure. This disorder is a nozone-specific element of mental function deficiency that can occur in various mental illnesses.
How do you know if you have anhedonia
Anhedonia is a spectrum of disturbances in hedonic function, including decreased motivation, desire, and ability to experience pleasure. In simple terms, anhedonia is a significant decrease in pleasure from activities that used to bring pleasure and pleasant emotions.
What is the difference between anhedonia and apathy
With apathy, as with anhedonia, motivation is lost. But still there is a difference. A person with apathy does not seem to be here: he moves away from this world, he does not care, all emotions are turned off. If with anhedonia only positive emotions are turned off, then with apathy, negative ones are turned off at the same time.
Can anhedonia be treated
As in the case of severe depression, self-treatment of anhedonia is very difficult, and often completely unrealistic. Since most cases of anhedonia are a symptom of some other disease, the causative disease should be treated first. Anhedonia will disappear as it heals.
